Turner Sr. purchased Tomlinson & Co., a hardware firm, located on Main Street in Mooresville, North Carolina. In 1902, a new building was constructed, also on North Main Street, across from the Mooresville train dept. Costing $3000, the building shared space with the First National Bank. The ornament is based on a 1910 photograph. Mr. Turner is the third person from the left leaning against a\u00a0 gas pump, the first in Mooresville. D.E. Turner Hardware is still open today, making it the oldest continuously operating business in Mooresville."}
