Brawley Garden Center recently celebrated its 75th year in business. In 1946, Marine and WWII veteran William “Bill” Kerr Brawley of Mooresville took advantage of the G. I. Bill to start a fescue seed-cleaning and processing business. The business expanded to offer house plants, vegetable, and fruit seeds and seedlings, flowers, herbs, shrubbery, and trees, as well as pottery and all types of plant fertilizers and nutrients. Bill retired around 1980 and his son Robert “Bob” Brawley took over as president. The Brawley Company is one of Mooresville’s oldest and most active businesses.
