Before the completion of the Historic United States Post Office, the Mooresville Post Office was housed either in the home or stores of the Postmaster. The first dedicated post office was constructed on the corner of North Main Street and East Iredell Avenue. Many dignitaries, including Postmaster General James A. Farley. attended the dedication on April 26, 1938. The building in still in use as the Central Office for the Mooresville Graded School District.
