Moor Park was built by Mooresville Cottom Mills in 1919 for $2900 and became Mooresville’s center of attraction for recreational activities in the early 1920s. The Mooresville Moors baseball team was sponsored by the mill, which was Mooresville’s largest employer. The park included covered bleachers and box seating from home plate to first and third bases and had a seating capacity of 2500. Wrestling matches, rodeos, and an occasional circus took place at Moor Park, in addition to baseball games, as well as MHS band and team practices and games. The Moors baseball team was the main attraction, they played organized ball as early as 1925. Baseball Hall of Fame member Hoyt Willhelm, the famous knuckle baller, played for the Moors in 1932, 1946, and 1947. Around 2014, the newly formed Mooresville Spinners began playing at Moor Field.
